Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider handles the query and its response under its own policy. We do not keep a site-side log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or direct message may be retained long enough to answer it and manage the correspondence. It is not shared outside the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server receives routine technical details needed to deliver and maintain the website:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- Page-view times and the pages visited
- Visit duration on individual pages
- A referring site, when one is provided
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic patterns, such as which pages are used most and where a visit ends. Analytics vendors may combine that information into totals and performance reports. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
Collected data supports the site's operation and helps identify technical or content problems. Its main uses are:
- Maintaining reliable page delivery and performance
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
- Diagnosing errors and security issues
- Understanding which pages readers use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect browsing interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Warren County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The pages describe how to reach the Warren County Sheriff's Office, local court clerks, the Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a report about another person. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search tools. A partner's privacy terms, retention practices, and disclosure rules govern information submitted to its service. Review those terms before entering a query because this policy does not control the partner's system.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to Warren County offices, Virginia court and agency portals, other public resources, and outside search services. Once another website opens, its own privacy policy applies. Review it before supplying personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their systems, not this site's record guides, control that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- A government or law enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and administrative safeguards protect the data handled here. No online system is completely secure, so uninterrupted protection or the absence of every breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied data will be reviewed for deletion.
Your Data Rights
Where it applies, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code Title 59.1, Chapter 53, gives eligible Virginia consumers rights concerning covered personal data. Coverage and exemptions depend on the controller and the context. Available requests may include:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised when practices or legal duties change. A replacement becomes effective when it is posted here with a new date.
